CSNSW is committed to the Premier's Priority to reduce higher risk offenders returning to custody by 5% by 2023.
Offenders must be assessed as eligible and suitable to participate in behaviour change programs. These are designed to assist offenders in custody and the community to address their offending behaviour and reduce their risk of re-offending. CSNSW delivers offence-specific programs particularly in relation to violent, sexual and chronic substance abuse-related offending.
CSNSW also manages specialised units such as the Personality and Behavioural Disorders Service, Countering Violent Extremism Programs and Safe Driver Programs.
In addition to these programs, CSNSW provides inmates who have an assessed need with education, training and employment opportunities. It also provides psychology and disability services.
