Junee Correctional Centre upgrade

As part of the NSW Government’s $3.8 billion Prison Bed Capacity Program Junee Correctional Centre is undergoing an expansion.

The expansion will see the following additions and alterations:

  • 480 maximum security beds for male inmates
  • Refurbishment and extensions to existing buildings, including gatehouse, clinic, reception, administration, stores, kitchen, laundry, and industries buildings
  • Shine for Kids relocation.

The expansion of Junee Correctional Centre will use standardised double level modular cell accommodation blocks.

Ground was officially broken on the site on 27 April 2017. It is anticipated that construction of the overall expansion will continue throughout 2018-19, with the centre operationally ready by early 2020.
