Clarence Correctional Centre

As part of its commitment to Better Prisons, the NSW Government is building the new Clarence Correctional Centre at Lavadia, near Grafton.

The 1,700-bed centre will feature state-of-the-art security and surveillance, and focus on rehabilitation to help reduce the rate of reoffending.

Benefits of the project include:

  • about $560 million injected into the local economy over the next 20 years
  • long-term, local economic opportunities through the procurement of a range of goods and services
  • up to 1,100 construction jobs and 600 operational jobs created.
The project is being delivered by Infrastructure NSW in partnership with the NorthernPathways consortium.

Construction of the new correctional centre began in early 2018 and is expected to be completed by 2020.
