How to Get There
Wellington is located 354km north-west of Sydney.
Public Transport
Wellington train station, on the Central Western Line, is 7km from the Macquarie Correctional Centre. Bus services also operate from Sydney and Dubbo. Visit

Private Transport
Travel along the Mitchell Highway onto the Mudgee turnoff. The Macquarie Correctional Centre is 6km from the turn off.

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday
- 8:00am to 12:30pm AND
- 1:30pm to 3:00pm
Visit times
Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays (excluding Christmas day)
- 8:00am to 11:30am AND
- 12:30pm to 4:00pm
Access to the centre on visit days begins at
- 8:00am for the 8:00am session and
- 12:00pm for the 12:30pm session.
Conditions
Visitors are advised of the following restrictions when making a booking to visit the Centre.
- All visitors must have a booking.
- Maximum of 4 adults and a manageable number of children per visit.
- 1 visit per day unless by prior approval.
- Bring 1 photograph or 3 other forms of ID to be established as a visitor.
- No jewellery (except wedding band), no track tops with hoods, singlet tops, opened toed shoes or sandals.
- Visitors must not be on any order such as AVO which could prevent a person from visiting an inmate.
- Visitors take up to $20 in coins for drink and confectionary vending machines.
Legal Visits
Legal practitioners may visit Monday to Friday between 9:00am and 2:30pm.

Industries
Wellington Correctional Centre is a large industrial complex employing inmates in a wide variety of jobs that include:
- Engineering, including light and heavy metal fabrication
- Furniture
- Food Services Unit where meals are prepared for inmates
- Laundry
- Internal ground maintenance and hygiene where inmates are involved in maintaining all the grounds and buildings.
- Facilities maintenance where inmates are involved to the ongoing building maintenance of the centre.
In all business and service units inmates are encouraged to participate in a wide variety of vocational programs as part of the work readiness process.
