Dillwynia Correctional Centre

The NSW Government has approved Corrective Services NSW (CSNSW) to proceed with the planning and design to expand Dillwynia Correctional Centre, located within the John Morony Complex at South Windsor.  The project will be delivered by the Department of Justice’s Justice Infrastructure and Assets branch on behalf of CSNSW.

A Review of Environmental Factors (REF) will shortly be carried out. The REF examines the likely environmental and social impacts of the proposed expansion and the measures required to mitigate any adverse impacts.

The expansion of Dillwynia Correctional Centre will see the following additions and alterations:

  • An additional 248 beds for maximum-security female inmates;
  • New visitor area, laundry, health clinic, industries building, program facilities and car park; and
  • An expansion of the existing gatehouse and reception area.

Expanding Dillwynia Correctional Centre is part of a $3.8 billion infrastructure plan to provide an expanded prison system to accommodate the increasing prison population. The expansion will deliver a fit-for-purpose facility for holistic end-to-end management of inmates, as well as providing a safe environment for correctional staff and inmates.
